The Hua Nan Commercial Bank was founded in 1919. The Bank maintained a head office in Taipei and started business in March 1919. Initially, the bank focused on expanding business on Taiwan and served with other local banks in the mission of financing the construction of a new Taiwan and it began setting up branches abroad, in Canton, Haiphong, Ho Chi Minh City, Rangoon, Singapore, Semarang and Tokyo. The branches played a key role in expanding trade with neighboring countries, and business developed steadily.

In Vietnam, Hua Nan Commercial Bank first opened an office in Ho Chi Minh City) in 2006. The Bank provides a full suite of wholesale banking products and services to corporate and financial institutions. Its consumer banking business serves individuals and small and medium enterprises.
